Start with a connection plan, not a model name. List the devices that must communicate, the areas needing internet access and the connections that should be restricted. Use this inventory to discuss the router and switch roles in your design.

The RB5009UG+S+IN has seven Gigabit Ethernet ports, one 2.5 GbE port and one SFP+ cage. The CRS310-8G+2S+IN has eight 2.5 GbE ports and two SFP+ cages. Port counts alone do not establish equivalent routing and switching performance.

Include current port demand, expected growth, uplink type and power needs in your enquiry. Review a proposed model against your own workload; a manufacturer benchmark is not a guarantee of your network speed. Confirm price and stock for the exact model.
